CalWest’s client school in Los Angeles seeks a Talent Acquisition and HR Specialist to begin July 1, 2024 or sooner.


CalWest Required Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s Degree and/or other educational requirements listed on the job description
  • Requisite skills commensurate with the position
  • A reasonable commuting distance to the CalWest client school, or a willingness to relocate
  • Authorization to live and work in the United States

Client School Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business or Organizational Development or related field is required.
  • 5-7 years’ experience in a related field is required
  • A desire to collaborate with educators in an urban area, and be passionate and committed to serving students in an urban area
  • Specialized training in employment law, compensation, employee relations, safety, and safety training is preferred
  • Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification preferred, not required
  • School experience a plus but is not required

Responsibilities

  • Identify staffing needs within the school district, develop job descriptions that recruit candidates that are values aligned, collaborative and open to feedback. In addition, be responsible for advertising and sourcing for vacancies, screening resumes, conducting interviews, and selecting qualified candidates for school teams and the network office to ensure school level and network positions are properly staffed with candidates. This practice should align to best practices within the DEI framework.
  • Develop and implement a credential system in which to ensure all teachers, administrators and counselors are appropriately hired and assigned (willing to train, but must have the ability to quickly learn and support with the development and implementation of an efficient system). Will be the primary point of contact for analysis of credentials and assignments.
  • Facilitating and improving the onboarding process for new hires, including orientation sessions, paperwork completion, and familiarization with district policies and procedures (including appropriate training) that is welcoming and values aligned.
  • Support, establish and monitor an equity based performance evaluation processes for school site and network employees; as well as provide guidance to supervisors on performance management best practices. Responsible for assisting with the development of performance improvement plans as needed.
  • Support in the development of employee relation systems throughout the network and collaborating with principals in matters directly related to employee concerns and disciplinary actions. In addition, will serve as a resource for employees regarding employment-related matters, including conflict resolution, grievances, and policy interpretation.
  • Ensuring and developing systems for compliance with relevant employment laws, regulations, credential and district policies, and keeping abreast of changes in legislation that may impact HR practices to support appropriate network changes. Must be able to make recommendations, provide feedback and develop systems to hold employees accountable for compliance items including but not limited to safety training, TB clearance, credentials, etc.
  • Support in developing an HR system for accurate employee records. Will also be responsible for maintaining accurate HR records, generating reports on key metrics such as turnover rates, diversity statistics, and training participation, and using data to inform decision-making and continuous improvement efforts.

Salary Range

$97,000 – $113,000
