CalWest’s client school in the greater Los Angeles area seeks a Middle School Division Head to start in August 2024.


CalWest Required Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s Degree and/or other educational requirements listed on the job description
  • Requisite skills commensurate with the position
  • A reasonable commuting distance to the CalWest client school, or a willingness to relocate
  • Authorization to live and work in the United States

Client School Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in education or a related field
  • Minimum (5) years of successful teaching or school counseling and leadership experience (middle school preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all middle school academic policies and procedures, including scheduling, teacher and room assignments, and discipline.
  • Oversee and participate in all aspects of curriculum design and instruction including core curriculum, exploratory, bible, and physical education.
  • Oversee co-curricular programs, student leadership, advisory, community service programs, electives, field trips, outdoor education – appointing teacher-leaders where appropriate.
  • Work with teachers to develop and review the academic program – align curriculum and methodologies to standards and to the school’s mission.
  • Promote hands-on, active, cooperative & project-based learning throughout the school community and provide hands-on guidance to teachers as they create and implement the program.
  • Work to create a culture that values learning, reading, community engagement, respect, and loving God and others.
  • Recruit, hire, train, evaluate, and work to retain high quality faculty.
  • Create a positive and fair work environment where teachers and other employees feel enthusiastic about the school.
  • Collaborate with teachers to develop benchmarks for each grade level and adjust as appropriate.
  • Work with teachers to create and use multiple sources of data to develop a plan for the improvement of student achievement.
  • Create systems and planning tools for teachers to track which standards are being taught and how to measure student progress; Define and track annual student achievement goals.
  • Work with teachers to select textbooks and supplemental materials that are aligned with curriculum and standards and fit the mission of the school.
  • Create and implement a professional development program for faculty.
  • Oversee program improvement.
  • Develops a master schedule of classes to ensure the best placement of staff and students to meet their educational needs.
  • Supervises extracurricular activities, including sporting events, field trips, and other activities beyond the school day.
  • Design a master calendar of programs and activities to implement the facility’s goals and objectives.

Salary Range

$100,000 – $120,000
