CalWest’s client school in the Greater Orange County Area seeks a Middle School Spanish Teacher to begin in August 2024.
CalWest Required Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s Degree and/or other educational requirements listed on the job description
- Requisite skills commensurate with the position
- A reasonable commuting distance to the CalWest client school, or a willingness to relocate
- Authorization to live and work in the United States
Client School Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree and teaching credential; minimum of three years’ experience teaching Spanish to both large and small groups of students.
- Preferred – Single subject Spanish teaching credential or master’s degree in Spanish language or education; five or more years of teaching experience, preferably in a middle school or high school setting.
Responsibilities
- Develop an expansive curriculum that includes, but is not limited to, instruction in grammar and vocabulary; Spanish and Latin American culture, and participation in multilingual environments, which promotes the development of social, emotional, cognitive and academic skills.
- Create lessons and a classroom culture that reflect school values and inclusivity.
- Design varied and unique learning activities and experiences that develop an understanding and appreciation of Spanish-speaking countries, as well as other cultures and histories.
- Observe and evaluate all student work and progress and provide regular feedback to students.
- Instruct students both individually and in group, adapting teaching methods to meet students’ varying needs, interests, and learning styles.
- Prepare, administer, and grade classwork and homework in order to evaluate student’s progress.
- Plan and supervise class projects, guest speakers and other activities to promote learning.
- Meet with parents/guardians to discuss children’s progress and resolve any ongoing issues.
Salary Range
$65,000 – $100,500
