CalWest Required Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s Degree and/or other educational requirements listed on the job description
- Requisite skills commensurate with the position
- A reasonable commuting distance to the CalWest client school, or a willingness to relocate
- Authorization to live and work in the United States
Client School Preferred Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree is required. A master’s degree is preferred.
- 3 years of teaching experience
- Experience implementing the 4th and 5th grade curriculum through inquiry-based teaching and creative problem-solving is required.
- Demonstrated ability and understanding of constructivist approaches to teaching.
- Proficiency in social studies, expository writing, literature, and writing mechanics are also required.
- Academic or professional experience in gifted education is desirable.
Responsibilities
- Provide an active learning environment in a departmentalized structure and have experience designing and implementing social studies curriculum for fourth and fifth grade.
- Teach each fourth and fifth grade student and provide continuity and focus for their 6-period school day.
- Work collaboratively with other teachers, administrators, and staff to develop a powerful course of study for students who are academically high-performing and intellectually gifted.
- Supervise students on off-campus school activities and overnight camps and trips.
Salary Range
$ 62,000 – $ 122,000
