CalWest’s client school in the Greater San Francisco Bay Area is seeking a Learning Specialist to begin January 2024


CalWest Required Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s Degree and/or other educational requirements listed on the job description
  • Requisite skills commensurate with the position
  • A reasonable commuting distance to the CalWest client school, or a willingness to relocate
  • Authorization to live and work in the United States

Client School Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in education or special education, preferred
  • Have experience differentiating instruction to meet the needs of a variety of learners
  • At least 2 years of Learning Specialist experience
  • Significant knowledge of social-constructivist principles and/or the Reggio Emilia Approach

Responsibilities

  • Support the creation and maintenance of elementary student classroom records at the beginning of the school year and during the year for transfers, and set up the online SST/DST tracking spreadsheets and related online/hard copy student folders at the beginning of the school year
  • Support admissions, as requested, with transfer applicant assessments and reading through students’ admissions files to provide additional perspective
  • Periodically provide 10-15 minute professional development talks at staff meetings.
  • From time to time, take on other duties as assigned by school leadership.
  • As requested, conduct in-class observations for students in the SST/DST process and attend parent meetings for those students as needed. As requested, attend SST or DST Family Meetings and update the Family SST/DST Doc for such meetings.
  • As determined through participating in Internal and Family SST/DST individual student-focused meetings, will be assigned to:
  • Provide small group or individually targeted reading/word study instruction service for at risk/diagnosed students in 1st grade and 2nd grade
  • Provide intermittent, push-in support to work on a specific assignment with 1st-5th grade students diagnosed with a specific learning disorder in reading, writing, and/or math

Salary Range

$ 67,000 – $ 95,000
