CalWest’s partner school in the Bay Area seeks an experienced Computer Science Teacher to begin July 2024. 


CalWest Required Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s Degree and/or other educational requirements listed on the job description
  • Requisite skills commensurate with the position
  • A reasonable commuting distance to the CalWest client school, or a willingness to relocate
  • Authorization to live and work in the United States

Client School Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Education, or a related field (master’s degree preferred). 
  • 1+ years of teaching computer science. 
  • Strong classroom management skills. 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 
  • Passion for education and promoting computer science knowledge. 
  • Dedication to creating an inclusive and diverse learning environment. 
  • Experience working with middle school students is a plus. 

Responsibilities

  • Teaching upper-level electives (such as Data Structures and Algorithms, Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, or Languages) to high school students as well as foundational programming courses to middle school students. 
  • Ensure lesson plans are engaging and active, which supports a positive classroom management program. 
  • Additional responsibilities include mentoring independent projects and teaching mini-courses related to computer science or the successful candidate’s interests. 
  • Foster creativity and problem-solving skills through hands-on projects and activities. 
  • Encourage collaboration and teamwork among students on programming projects. 

Salary Range

$ 60,000 – $ 80,000
