Head of Middle School

CalWest client school in Seattle, Washington seeks a Head of Middle School for a possible start date between January 1, 2024 and July 1, 2024


CalWest Required Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s Degree and/or other educational requirements listed on the job description
  • Requisite skills commensurate with the position
  • A reasonable commuting distance to the CalWest client school, or a willingness to relocate
  • Authorization to live and work in the United States

Client School Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree required
  • Teaching experience at the middle school level preferred
  • Clear vision of excellence in education at the middle school level
  • 5 years administrative experience
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Knowledge of the cognitive and emotional development of middle school children

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the academic program including monitoring and communicating student academic progress, the reporting process, and parent conferences;
  • Create and maintain middle school class schedule, and work with other division heads to coordinate a master schedule;
  • Facilitate the implementation of the school’s mission and philosophy in terms of student academic, social, and emotional development;
  • Oversee student life issues, local field trips, attend 7 to 14 day national and international student trips, and service learning;
  • Actively promote the retention and matriculation of students through the eighth grade. Support the transition of students to 9-12 programs;
  • Attend parent conferences and other parent meetings as necessary;
  • Articulate division philosophy and goals;
  • Facilitate professional growth and communication among the middle school faculty;
  • Understand and articulate inquiry teaching/learning methodology;
  • Visit classrooms and provide regular feedback to faculty in consultation with the director of teaching and learning. Provide written feedback in the form of an evaluation on a regular basis;-
  • Establish supportive relationships with faculty, provide coaching and mentoring for division members who are new or otherwise in need of assistance;
  • Other duties as assigned

Salary Range

$ 150,000 – $ 250,000
