History Teacher

CalWest’s partner school in the Bay Area seeks an experienced History Teacher to begin July 2025. 


CalWest Required Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s Degree and/or other educational requirements listed on the job description
  • Requisite skills commensurate with the position
  • A reasonable commuting distance to the CalWest client school, or a willingness to relocate
  • Authorization to live and work in the United States

Client School Preferred Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree is required
  • Master’s degree and experience working with secondary school students preferred. 
  • Strong classroom management skills. 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 
  • Dedication to creating an inclusive and diverse learning environment. 
  • Experience working with middle school students is a plus. 

Responsibilities

  • Teaching high school history or social science classes. Courses are thematic, with past offerings having focused on the ways human rights, constitutional amendments, or capitalism can give us unique perspectives on history.
  • Interest in teaching literature, which likewise can focus on thematic interests from creative writing to linguistics.
  • Ensure lesson plans are engaging and active, which supports a positive classroom management program. 
  • Additional responsibilities include mentoring independent projects and teaching mini-courses. 
  • Encourage collaboration and teamwork among students on projects. 

Salary Range

$ 81,985- $ 102,481
