CalWest’s client school in the Greater San Francisco Bay Area seeks a Librarian and Technology Integration Specialist starting August 2024.
CalWest Required Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s Degree and/or other educational requirements listed on the job description
- Requisite skills commensurate with the position
- A reasonable commuting distance to the CalWest client school, or a willingness to relocate
- Authorization to live and work in the United States
Client School Preferred Qualifications
- MLS/MLIS, or M.A. Ed, Teacher Librarian Services Credential
- Experience with school/library management and student instruction
- Deep knowledge and love of children’s and middle school “Teen” literature
- Experience and comfort with integrating and teaching educational technology
- Experience with children with Language-Based Learning Differences
- Experience providing library services to the LD community
- Experience with Apple iPad features and apps (1:1 iPad model), including Apple Teacher Certification
- Knowledge of the Responsive Classroom model
- Experience with Opals Media Flex Library System
- Experience with Common Sense Media Digital Citizenship Curriculum
Responsibilities
- Create a welcoming, safe, and supportive library environment reflecting and affirming the unique and diverse interests and experiences of all students, open during lunch recess daily
- Implement a library schedule that includes library orientation, read-aloud, readers advisory, digital citizenship (Common Sense Media), and information literacy instruction, including effective and ethical use of print resources and online databases, website evaluation, and citation
- Build and maintain a current collection of print and online resources, including picture books, early readers, graphic novels, fiction, nonfiction, and hi-lo titles, as well as eBook and research databases well-suited to the learning needs of an LD population
- Manage library circulation; provide all cataloging and processing of new materials using Opals
- Media Flex Library Management System; maintain library website, including library catalog and research databases
- Teach quarterly elective classes for middle-school students
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to support the creation and implementation of research projects
- Identify and implement new trends in educational technology into work with faculty, staff, and students
- Train and support faculty in the use of software and technology related to teaching and learning
- Develop, coordinate, and/or teach workshops for instructional technology applications and assist faculty in group and 1-on-1 settings, as needed
- Create and maintain reading lists and resource guides including summer reading
- Plan annual book fair (October) and school author visits
- Develop and manage a budget for the library including expected purchases and maintenance
Salary Range
$ 75,000 – $ 115,000
