CalWest Required Qualifications

Client School Preferred Qualifications
- Experience: A minimum of 10 years of successful teaching experience at a top private high school or college level, demonstrating the ability to teach mathematics to students of varying skill levels.
- Education: A degree from a top-ranked university (master’s degree preferred).
- Classroom Management Training: Recent completion of classroom management training or workshops. (preferred)
- Teaching Philosophy: Ability to balance being an educator and a teacher, promoting both academic and personal growth for the student.
- Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to provide feedback and create detailed reports on the student’s progress.
- Disposition: Warm, approachable, and empathetic while also maintaining high academic expectations and rigor for the student.
- Proven experience teaching gifted students mathematics at the high school or college level.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to adapt lessons to various learning styles and technical proficiency levels.
- Professional, discreet, and trustworthy.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in one-on-one teaching or private tutoring settings.
- Experience with advanced or gifted students, including differentiated instruction and enrichment planning.
- California Mathematics Teaching Credential is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement a personalized science curriculum tailored to the student’s exceptional abilities and interests, focusing on advanced topics and enrichment.
- Provide one-on-one instruction in a variety of mathematical disciplines, including but not limited to algebra, geometry, calculus, trigonometry, and number theory.
- Adapt teaching methods and materials to suit the student’s individual learning style, pace, and needs.
- Collaborate with other teachers, parents, and other household caregivers to track progress, set educational goals, and adjust lesson plans accordingly.
- Provide regular progress reports and feedback, highlighting academic growth, strengths, areas for improvement, and upcoming challenges.
- Foster a positive learning environment that encourages exploration, critical thinking, and a love for science.
- Maintain professionalism and discretion in all interactions with the student and family, respecting privacy and confidentiality at all times.
Salary Range
$130,000 – $150,000
