CalWest Required Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s Degree and/or other educational requirements listed on the job description
- Requisite skills commensurate with the position
- A reasonable commuting distance to the CalWest client school, or a willingness to relocate
- Authorization to live and work in the United States
Client School Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in English or related field
- At least five years of middle school teaching experience.
- Must be experienced with the developmental needs of 12 to 14-year-old children.
- Experience developing and implementing language arts curriculum for grades 6-8 is required.
- Academic or professional experience in gifted education, creative problem-solving, and inquiry-based education is preferred.
Responsibilities
- The teacher will work closely with other teachers and content-area specialists.
- Overseeing advisory, teaching electives, and participate in class outings
- Establish and maintain a positive, inclusive, and respectful classroom environment that encourages student participation and collaboration.
- Encourage students to develop their writing skills through various genres, such as narrative, expository, persuasive, and creative writing.
- Stay current with developments in language arts education, including new teaching strategies, technologies, and literary works.
