CalWest’s partner school in the San Francisco Bay Area seeks a temporary 1-year sabbatical replacement, part-time (0.5 FTE) Upper School Computer Science Teacher starting August 2025.
CalWest Required Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s Degree and/or other educational requirements listed on the job description
- Requisite skills commensurate with the position
- A reasonable commuting distance to the CalWest client school, or a willingness to relocate
- Authorization to live and work in the United States
Client School Preferred Qualifications
- At least three years of computer science teaching experience in a school setting OR other relevant academic teaching experience
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
Responsibilities
- Exhibit a passion for content knowledge and a range of effective pedagogical approaches.
- Incorporate a variety of pedagogical approaches, including inquiry-based, according to the needs of the group of students
- Demonstrate commitment to equitable and culturally responsive teaching practices
- Cultivate an inclusive, collaborative, and challenging learning environment that reflects the school’s core values and allows our diverse student body to grow and thrive
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to develop innovative and meaningful curriculum and programming
- Integrate technology in effective ways that enhance students’ learning experiences and growth
- Actively work with the CADS Department Chair, and the Director of Teaching and Learning to participate in yearly growth plans and instructional support strategies
- Actively work with the Director of Academic Support regarding the needs of students of students with formal educational plans, and other students needing additional support
- Serve as an advisor who is committed to the social and emotional development of students
- Bring unique skills to contribute to our multifaceted community outside of the classroom
- Engages in professional development and is committed to furthering 6-12 alignment across the department
- Required to attend the start of year retreat; this is an overnight retreat for students by grade level
Salary Range
$35,000 – $75,000 (0.5 FTE)
