CalWest client school in the Greater Los Angeles area seeks a Middle School Math Teacher to begin July 31, 2025.
CalWest Required Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s Degree and/or other educational requirements listed on the job description
- Requisite skills commensurate with the position
- A reasonable commuting distance to the CalWest client school, or a willingness to relocate
- Authorization to live and work in the United States
Client School Preferred Qualifications
- 3 years of teaching experience
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
- Knowledge of subjects assigned
- General knowledge of curriculum and instruction practice
- Ability to instruct students and apply effective classroom management
- Strong communications, public relations, and interpersonal skills
- Classroom teaching experience: Grades 6 – 8
- Experience teaching mathematics at the middle school level
Responsibilities
- Implement the curriculum and assessment plans selected by the content level department
- Use PowerTeacher to maintain a gradebook and make sure to enter at least 3 grades per week for each student.
- Follow the pacing plan submitted to the administration
- Use pedagogical strategies demonstrated in Professional Development, such as Simultaneity, Centers, Structured group work, etc., and not rely solely on direct instruction.
- Maintain records of regular communication with parents, especially for students who are not passing a class.
- Participate in Friday afternoon professional development sessions
- Participate in decisions about school operations, curriculum, and assessment by communicating with their grade level team leader and Content Area department chair.
- Participate in grade-level team meetings
- Participate in Content Area department meetings
- Set professional goals and respond appropriately to coaching from veteran teachers and administrators.
Salary Range
$ 61,000 – $ 67,000
