CalWest’s client school in Sonoma County, seeks a Middle School Dean of Students to begin in August 2025.
CalWest Required Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s Degree and/or other educational requirements listed on the job description
- Requisite skills commensurate with the position
- A reasonable commuting distance to the CalWest client school, or a willingness to relocate
- Authorization to live and work in the United States
Client School Preferred Qualifications
- Have superb instincts for middle-schoolers.
- Ability to build trusting relationships with students, families, and faculty.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Previous experience teaching or working in a school setting.
- Bachelor’s Degree required. Master’s preferred.
Responsibilities
- Serves as an advocate for students, supporting their social, emotional, and academic well-being.
- Guides and supports advisors and faculty in their work with students.
- Develops and oversees the student advisory program, collaborating with grade level advisory teams.
- Establishes and maintains strong, cooperative working relationships with parents and caregivers.
- Plans and facilitates/co-facilitates engaging student programs, including Town Halls, talent shows, dances, and other special events.
- Fosters a positive and inclusive school culture by implementing behavior policies, building strong relationships with students, and supporting conflict resolution in accordance with our Community Code.
- Ensures student safety on campus through active supervision and monitoring of student conduct.
- Assists in creating and maintaining master schedules, special schedules, and student rosters.
- Supports and coordinates service-learning opportunities for students.
- Serves as an integral part of the Student Support Team, working collaboratively with the Middle School Division Head, Learning Support Specialists and Coordinator, and School Counselor to provide comprehensive student support.
- Leads the Comet Leadership Council (student government) and Student Ambassador program and helps to facilitate other leadership opportunities for students.
- Assists with the transition and integration of new students into the school community.
- Engages in some instructional time in support of middle school students.
- Manage other duties as assigned by the Middle School Division Head.
Salary Range
$70,000 – $120,000
