CalWest Required Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s Degree and/or other educational requirements listed on the job description
- Requisite skills commensurate with the position
- A reasonable commuting distance to the CalWest client school, or a willingness to relocate
- Authorization to live and work in the United States
Client School Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in history or a related field (master’s degree preferred).
- 1+ years of teaching experience, preferably at the middle school level.
- Strong knowledge of history is essential. This includes a deep understanding of historical events, themes, and critical thinking skills related to history.
- An understanding and appreciation of diverse cultures and perspectives which can be especially important when teaching history.
- Strong classroom management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Dedication to creating an inclusive and diverse learning environment.
Responsibilities
- Teach high school history courses (broadly construed for both US and world history), with occasional electives based on the candidate’s interests, such as economics, political science, or literature.
- Ensure lesson plans are engaging and active, which supports a positive classroom management program.
- Regularly review and update curriculum materials to reflect current events and historical developments.
- Deliver engaging and interactive history lessons that foster critical thinking and historical understanding.
- Encourage collaboration and teamwork among students.
Salary Range
$ 60,000 – $ 80,000
