CalWest’s client school in the Greater Seattle Area is seeking a K-5 Music Teacher to begin August 2023.
CalWest Required Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s Degree and/or other educational requirements listed on the job description
- Requisite skills commensurate with the position
- A reasonable commuting distance to the CalWest client school, or a willingness to relocate
- Authorization to live and work in the United States
Client School Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in teaching is required, with 3 or more years of teaching preferred
- A bachelor’s degree is required
- A graduate degree is preferred
- Teacher certification is preferred
- Exhibit an understanding of the development of K-5 students
- Display an ease while working with students, parents, faculty, and other constituencies
- Demonstrate initiative regarding job related tasks, responsibilities, and projects
- Complete work in a timely and thorough manner and be conscientious about assignments and deadlines
- Collaborate and work well in team settings
- Exhibit the capacity and desire to engage in experiential activities and programs with students
- Communicate effectively (verbally and in writing) with others, including administrators, colleagues, staff and parents/guardians in order to maintain constructive and professional relationships
- Practice strong interpersonal skills, to include being patient and positive
- Be patient and positive and find joy in the journey of promoting a lifelong love of learning
- Have proficient skills in the use of technology: including, but not limited to, Microsoft Suite, Google Drive, and Outlook

Responsibilities
- Create and sustain classroom culture based on mission and values of the school
- Collaborate and work effectively in teams with colleagues
- Design, prepare and deliver instructional activities that emphasize experiential learning experiences
- Teach music skills and foster a love of music by creating an active-participatory environment
- Plan and teach twice-weekly classes for each grade; K-5
- Coordinate music in the Lower School events, assemblies and performances
- Play piano, as well as other instruments
- Have vocal proficiency
- Guide extracurricular chorus program
- Differentiate instructional resources/methods to meet students’ varying needs
- Value and incorporate diverse perspectives in daily interactions and in the curriculum
- Develop confidence and self-esteem in students
- Create and foster cross-grade/divisional interactions
- Collaborate with school counselor to establish and maintain social emotional learning and wellness for all students
- Work closely with learning coordinator to support varying learning styles and needs in the classroom
- Conscientiously complete other duties as assigned
Salary Range
$ 55,721 – $ 100,808
