CalWest’s client school in the Greater Seattle Area is seeking a Middle School Music Teacher to begin August 2023.
Required Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s Degree and/or other educational requirements listed on the job description
- Requisite skills commensurate with the position
- A reasonable commuting distance to the CalWest client school, or a willingness to relocate
- Relevant, recent experience
- Authorization to live and work in the United States
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience teaching music is required, with 3 or more years preferred
- Experience teaching music to Middle School students is preferred
- A bachelor’s degree is required, with a degree in Music or Music Education preferred
- A graduate degree in Music, Music Education, Education or related field is preferred
- Experience leading performance ensembles is preferred
- A background in music theory is required, with experience in digital music, sound production, and other expressions of music making preferred
- Demonstrated excellence as a musician with a passion for sharing that with Middle School students is required
- A demonstrated commitment to professional development and growth in this area is required

Responsibilities
- Create and sustain a positive classroom culture, based on the mission and values of the school
- Plan, prepare, and deliver instructional activities for Middle School music courses that facilitate active learning experiences
- Possess the interest, ability, and skills to successfully teach General Music, as described above
- Have the interest, ability, and skills to successfully lead ensembles
- Develop and implement an interdisciplinary and experiential curriculum
- Value and incorporate diverse perspectives in daily interactions and within the curriculum
- Establish classroom expectations that create a safe and comfortable environment for all students
- Collaborate and work effectively with other members of the Performing Arts Department to create common experiences centered on student inquiry
- Create and sustain effective family partnerships, for example: communicate with parents/guardians regarding student progress and classroom news via formal fall/spring conferences, written communications, and school portal
