CalWest’s client school in the Greater San Francisco Bay Area is seeking a Director of the Design and Innovation Labs to start July 1, 2023.


Required Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s Degree and/or other educational requirements listed on the job description
  • Requisite skills commensurate with the position
  • A reasonable commuting distance to the CalWest client school, or a willingness to relocate
  • Relevant, recent experience
  • Authorization to live and work in the United States

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Design, Engineering, Architecture, or related field
  • Experience managing, coaching and mentoring teachers
  • Experience running the programming as well as upkeep for both digital and physical fabrication centers
  • A love of and experience teaching high school students
  • Experience working in or collaborating with industry preferred

More about this role

Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage the 9th grade design course, teaching key, scaffolded skills in design and fabrication with a social impact lens
  • Teach 4 sections of our human-centered design course taken by all 9th graders
  • Support and guide faculty who work both directly and indirectly in the design labs on our upper school campus, including building interdisciplinary collaboration and connections
  • Manage the safety procedures and maintenance of the Design Labs
