6th Grade Humanities Teacher

CalWest’s client school in the Greater San Francisco Bay area seeks a 6th Grade Humanities Teacher for the 2022-2023 academic school year.


Required Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s Degree and/or other educational requirements listed on the job description
  • Requisite skills commensurate with the position
  • A reasonable commuting distance to the CalWest client school, or a willingness to relocate
  • Relevant, recent experience
  • Authorization to live and work in the United States

Preferred Qualifications

  • A valid teaching credential is required.
  • Have at least two years of exemplary classroom teaching experience in humanities, history and English language arts.
  • Working understanding of developmental/constructivist teaching practices and social-emotional learning.
  • Be able to successfully instruct and differentiate for students at different ability levels and multiple intelligences.
  • Be committed to social justice, equity, and diversity.

Responsibilities

  • Continuously develop and examine the humanities curriculum in conjunction with the Middle School Team.
  • Teach classes each day, support an advisory group (of approximately 14 students), lead advisory meetings/activities for twenty-five minutes each day, function as the liaison between home and school for each advisee, and have other Middle School duties as assigned.
  • Develop curriculum and differentiated instruction for students.
