CalWest’s client school in the Greater Orange County area is seeking a Lower School Reading Specialist to begin in August 2022.


Required Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s Degree and/or other educational requirements listed on the job description
  • Requisite skills commensurate with the position
  • A reasonable commuting distance to the CalWest client school, or a willingness to relocate
  • Relevant, recent experience
  • Authorization to live and work in the United States

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Current clear California Teaching Credential
  • A certification or credential in Reading is preferred
  • Minimum of three years teaching experience
  • Experience teaching Teachers College Reading and Writing Project

Responsibilities

  • Assess students using multiple measures including Amplify-DIBELS and Fountas & Pinnell Running Records
  • Utilize various intervention programs to remediate those students who need support to attain benchmark expectations in reading
  • Meet with students in small groups three days per week for 30-minute lessons
  • Communicates with parents and teachers regularly
