Assistant Head of School for Student Life

CalWest’s client school in the Greater San Francisco Bay Area is seeking an Assistant Head of School for Student Life to start July 2022. 

Required Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s Degree and/or other educational requirements listed on the job description
  • Requisite skills commensurate with the position
  • A reasonable commuting distance to the CalWest client school, or a willingness to relocate
  • Relevant, recent experience
  • Authorization to live and work in the United States

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least five years of teaching or other relevant experience in leadership positions (preferably with middle and high school students)
  • Having an advanced degree is preferred
  • Have a passion for working with student groups and fostering student initiatives
  • Exhibit a collaborative approach to leadership that produces effective decision making and that reveals a genuine enthusiasm for working with colleagues, sharing strategies, and exploring effective ways to enhance the student experience
  • Cultivate an equitable and diverse community

  • Oversee the school’s advisory program, including programming for community learning and discussion, as well as training for faculty and staff leading advisories
  • Lead the student-facing administrative team, including the Dean of Students, Clinical Counselors, Wellness Coordinator, Student Athletics Coordinator, and Student Supervisors
  • Coordinate with and advise the Student Council, including planning the weekly All School Meetings led by Student Council
  • Work with the Retreat Coordinator to design and staff school-wide student retreats
  • Work with the Community Involvement Day Coordinator to design and staff school-wide Community Involvement (aka community service) events
