CalWest’s client school in the Greater Santa Barbara area of CA is seeking a School Counselor to begin in October 2021 and for the 2022-2023 school year. 

Required Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s Degree and/or other educational requirements listed on the job description
  • Requisite skills commensurate with the position
  • A reasonable commuting distance to the CalWest client school, or a willingness to relocate
  • Relevant, recent experience
  • Authorization to live and work in the United States

Preferred Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree in school counseling, clinical psychology, psychiatry, or closely related field and five years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • School Psychologist, Clinical Psychologist, or Adolescent Psychiatrist
  • Experience working with students from different backgrounds, cultures, and academic needs, including students with learning differences or giftedness and training on meeting the needs
  • School counseling experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provides support of the School’s counseling program (primarily Monday through Friday) with some evening and weekend commitments
  • Provides emergency and on-call support of and conjunction with health center staff
  • Works closely with the director of counseling services, dean of students, director of student life and the director of health services to coordinate care
  • Conducts mental health assessments and offers one-on-one counseling on a short term basis (six to eight sessions per student)
  • Collaborates with the School’s Human Development department in implementing wellness lessons
