CalWest’s partner school in the Greater San Francisco Bay Area seeks an experienced Learning Specialist or Educational Therapist to start in late August 2021.

Required Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s Degree and/or other educational requirements listed on the job description
  • Requisite skills commensurate with the position
  • A reasonable commuting distance to the CalWest client school, or a willingness to relocate
  • Relevant, recent experience
  • Authorization to live and work in the United States

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’ degree in Education, Special Education, or Educational Therapy, Master’s preferred
  • Minimum of three years’ experience in elementary education
  • Slingerland, Wilson, Orton-Gillingham or Lindamood-Bell preferred
  • Experience using neuropsychological evaluations, IEPs, and related educational assessment tools to assist with interpreting scores, implementing accommodations, allocating resources, and helping teachers and families understand their students’ learning needs

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate and maintain ongoing communication with the Student Support Team, as well as with homeroom and specialist teachers
  • Provide math, writing, and reading intervention, especially with upper elementary grades and with a focus on supporting the development of executive functioning
  • Interpret and implement recommendations and accommodations in the classroom and serve as counsel to teachers and parents alike
  • Demonstrate an interest in staying current on education and LD research and best practices
  • Demonstrate knowledge of managing student data with confidentiality
